2024 China (Xiamen) International Cross-Border E-commerce Expo Opens
June 26, 2024, Xiamen – The 2024 China (Xiamen) International Cross-Border E-commerce Expo (ICEIE) commenced grandly today at the Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center.
Initiated by the CCPIT Xiamen and approved by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the 2024 ICEIE has received strong support from numerous institutions. These include the Department of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce; the Trade Promotion and Exchange Center of CCPIT; the CCPIT Sub-Council of Grain Industry; the World Trade Centers Association; the EU-China Commission; the RCEP Industrial Cooperation Committee; the China Service Trade Association; and the China Association of Inspection and Quarantine.
Xiamen boasts a well-developed cross-border e-commerce ecosystem and a convenient service chain, with cross-border e-commerce rapidly becoming a major growth driver for the city's foreign trade. Leveraging years of accumulated resources in the field, the CCPIT Xiamen and the Chamber of International Commerce Xiamen initiated and founded the first Xiamen International Cross-Border E-commerce Expo. After three years of refinement, ICEIE has now evolved into one of China's most comprehensive professional cross-border e-commerce exhibitions in terms of industrial sectors represented.
The exhibition demonstrates cross-border e-commerce's role in empowering industrial transformation and upgrading, highlighting the strengths of superior industrial clusters and fostering deeper inter-industry connections. The Cross-Border Product Selection Zone featured renowned products from 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across China. The range was vast – from Guangdong's electronics and appliances to Inner Mongolia's cashmere products; from Yiwu's small commodities to Yongchun incense, Shishi apparel, Jinjiang footwear and garments, and Xiamen's bathroom hardware; and spanning sporting goods, power tools, rattan and iron crafts, furniture, general merchandise, and outdoor supplies – truly connecting high-quality cross-border products from across China and the world under one roof.
The expo also focused on new products and business forms, inviting various specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative enterprises to showcase numerous novel and unique products, aiming to set new international cross-border trends. The concurrent "2024 Fujian Industrial Cluster New Business Opportunities" event helped sellers uncover potential within Fujian's industrial clusters. By combining cross-border e-commerce with industrial clusters, it assists more factory-type SMEs in seizing B2B cross-border e-commerce opportunities, venturing into e-commerce, and entering the international market, thereby forming stable and high-quality domestic and international supply chains.
Furthermore, this year's ICEIE innovatively created a new model of "Cross-Border E-commerce + Live Streaming." By introducing live streaming ecosystem players like TikTok and Alibaba International Station, it helped merchants efficiently reach overseas end-consumers and expand sales channels by leveraging traffic trends. It served as a grand event covering "traditional + emerging" models and building "platform + live streaming" channels.
Currently, ICEIE has been established as a high-end economic and trade service platform integrating achievement display, technical exchange, and trade matchmaking, promoting the对接 and linkage of dual circulation. The exhibition received strong support and widespread participation from numerous foreign missions in China. Embassies, consulates, and business institutions in China from dozens of countries, including Japan, South Korea, Thailand, France, Uganda, Mexico, Austria, and Zambia, organized displays of local specialty products in the ICEIE import commodity exhibition area.
China General Technology Group BRICS Company, a Fortune Global 500 company and a key central state-owned enterprise, partnered with the Xiamen BRICS Office to host the "BRICS+Belt and Road" Cross-Border E-commerce Cooperation and Exchange Conference. Simultaneously, the inaugural International Geographical Indication Products (Xiamen) Trade Fair was held alongside ICEIE. This first-ever joint appearance of cross-border e-commerce and geographical indication products aids the internationalization and global expansion of GI products. It represents a fresh exploration into how cross-border e-commerce can empower new industrial development and marks another innovative initiative by Xiamen to leverage new cross-border dynamics for assisting enterprise transformation into new sectors and expanding cross-border cooperation.
