Cross-border e-commerce becomes a new engine for trade in the Belt and Road Initiative—2023 China Cross-border E-commerce Expo opens!

This year marks the 10th anniversary of my country's Belt and Road Initiative. Capitalizing on this momentum, the 2023 China (Xiamen) International Cross-border E-commerce Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as the China Cross-border E-commerce Exhibition) was held from June 15th to 17th. The exhibition attracted a constant flow of visitors. The Kazakhstan Pavilion, the Japan Trade Pavilion, the BRICS Products Exhibition Area, and the themed exhibition areas of nearly 20 consulates and overseas economic and trade organizations in China, including those of the Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore, showcased a dazzling array of products featuring distinctive Belt and Road countries, attracting visitors to stop and shop and negotiate trade.Themed "Cross-border Connectivity, Global Cargo Delivery," the exhibition spanned over 60,000 square meters and housed over 2,000 booths. The exhibition featured three themed exhibition areas: Cross-border Product Selection, Cross-border Platforms and Integrated Service Providers, and Cross-border Imports. The exhibition covered the entire cross-border e-commerce industry chain, showcasing distinctive industrial belts from over 50 countries and over 2,000 high-quality suppliers. The high profile and high level of participation at the exhibition highlighted the role of cross-border e-commerce as a growth driver for foreign trade, making it a new engine for trade within the Belt and Road Initiative.

一带一路

The Kazakhstan Pavilion showcased distinctive products and investment opportunities, highlighting the international nature of the exhibition. Ke Biru, President of the Xiamen Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), organizer of the exhibition, stated in an interview, "This exhibition is unique and focused on internationalization. With pavilions like the Japan Trade Pavilion, the Macao Pavilion, and the Canada Pavilion, this exhibition offers a wealth of international elements, facilitating the entry of high-quality foreign products into the Chinese market. Through the China-Africa Expo platform, we can directly connect with Chinese buyers and promote the circulation of domestic and international trade."It's worth noting that this year, the China Cross-Border Expo has been upgraded from the "Charming Japan Pavilion" to the "Japan Trade Pavilion." The cherry blossom-adorned exhibition hall highlights the Japanese style, showcasing Japanese daily necessities, snack foods, and beverages. The upgraded pavilion also signifies enhanced cooperation. This year, the exhibition has added the Japan External Trade Organization and the Japan Chamber of Commerce in China as supporting organizations. Well-known companies such as Panasonic Group and Toyota Tsusho will bring new business opportunities to Sino-Japanese cooperation. Furthermore, the exhibition features a dedicated "BRICS Specialty Products Display Area," leveraging Xiamen's advantages as a "BRICS Base" to deepen and strengthen "BRICS+" cooperation.

中跨展

Focusing on "buying globally, selling globally", this exhibition strives to build a hard-core ecosystem that integrates "industrial belts", "platforms" and "service providers". The China Cross-border E-commerce Exhibition provides business expansion for domestic cross-border e-commerce sellers and a stage for buyers to select products, providing a powerful grip for the growth of foreign trade. At the booth of Xiamen Xingrongsheng Industry and Trade Co., Ltd., a variety of luggage, bags, and other products were displayed. The company's luggage and bags are exported to North America, Europe, and countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, such as Iran. Xu Chengxian, the company's business manager, told reporters, "The China Cross-Border Expo is a great platform. Last year, I met over 60 overseas buyers at the show, and many of them concluded deals and repurchased goods, which is why we're back again this year." In addition to a selection of products, the exhibition also offers a comprehensive, one-stop cross-border service offering, from finance and payment to warehousing and logistics, marketing and intellectual property to design and training. Cross-border e-commerce service providers are flourishing, safeguarding the cross-border expansion of Chinese manufacturing. After three years of upgrading and development, the China Cross-Border Expo has enabled more and more exhibitors to connect with distinctive national industrial belts and potential new markets around the world. This also demonstrates that cross-border e-commerce is gradually becoming a new engine for international trade along the Belt and Road Initiative, injecting new impetus into enabling countries along the Belt and Road to share the benefits of digital economic development.
