2022 China (Xiamen) International Cross-Border E-commerce Expo Review
On November 12, 2022, the three-day 2022 China (Xiamen) International Cross-Border E-commerce Industry Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as "ICEIE") concluded successfully at the Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center. Both visitor traffic and transaction volumes showed growth, indicating a sustained recovery in business activity and footfall. As the first national-level professional cross-border e-commerce themed exhibition held since the resumption of national exhibitions, this event garnered significant attention from the industry. Group delegations from Harbin, Guangzhou, Yiwu, Chongqing, Jilin, Shishi, Jianning, and other cities participated.
Over 30 concurrent events, including forums, salons, and promotion conferences, were held. These included government-led initiatives such as the 2022 ICEIE Opening Ceremony & Cross-Border E-commerce Industry Development Summit Forum and the "Third Season of Japanese Enterprises in Fujian" series of events, as well as various enterprise-organized matchmaking meetings, promotion conferences, dialogues, and forums. These activities were high-level, diverse in format, rich in content, gathered distinguished guests and experts for in-depth discussions, contributing to a more influential, authoritative, and professional cross-border e-commerce gathering.
A specially featured "Charming Japan Pavilion," covering approximately 1,300 square meters, showcased companies from industries such as FMCG, biopharmaceuticals, health & elderly care, cold chain logistics, hydrogen energy, and semiconductors. Participating enterprises including Panasonic, Toyota Tsusho, JFE Ecoscope, Yakult, Nisshin OilliO, Nidec-Shibao, Wako Shoji, JSB Technology, and Nagasaki Prefecture made impressive appearances. The "Eternal Neighbors - Photo Exhibition Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Normalization of China-Japan Diplomatic Relations" was also held during the expo. Centered on the theme of "Peace, Friendship, and Cooperation," it displayed over 40 valuable works photographed by Chinese and Japanese photographers and enthusiasts.
"Compared to previous years, large purchasers this year were more concerned about supply capacity," according to reports. Over the three-day exhibition, 16 enterprises in a joint booth collectively gained over 900 WeChat contacts, more than 500 potential clients, and intended procurement value exceeding RMB 5 million. Meanwhile, the Chinagoods platform collected over 800 purchase inquiries on-site through methods like app registrations, community outreach, and official account follows. As a representative returning exhibitor, Xiamen Huanlv Industrial Co., Ltd. impressed with a全新的 new exhibition image at ICEIE 2022, its 108-square-meter finely decorated booth leaving a deep impression. General Manager Wang Hongbin stated that both the quantity and quality of buyers at this year's ICEIE saw significant improvement. Over the three days, they collected over 300 WeChat contacts, more than 200 potential clients, and on-site intended procurement value of RMB 3 million, far exceeding expectations. Many exhibitors noted that, affected by the pandemic, the inability of many overseas buyers to travel for negotiations and procurement made ICEIE a valuable new option. Through the exhibition, they accessed new purchaser groups, serving as an important supplement to traditional foreign trade customers.
It is worth highlighting that this edition of ICEIE specially featured a BRICS Nations Pavilion, focusing on displaying trade between Xiamen and BRICS countries, BRICS demonstration units (projects), representative industrial parks/platforms, and past key activities. A wide array of high-quality products from Russia, Brazil, India, and South Africa attracted numerous companies for business discussions and procurement. During the event, the organizing committee intensively held various themed forums, salons, and sharing sessions, including "Research on Development Trends and Business Models of Cross-Border E-commerce between China and BRICS Countries," "Opportunities and Challenges in Cross-Border E-commerce in Russia and Brazil," and "Strategies for Cross-Border E-commerce Independent Sites in BRICS Countries," consistently highlighting the BRICS characteristics throughout the exhibition.
