A Review of the 2022 China (Xiamen) International Cross-border E-commerce Exhibition
On November 12, 2022, the three-day 2022 China (Xiamen) International Cross-border E-commerce Industry Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as "Cross-border Exhibition") successfully concluded at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center. Both visitor traffic and transaction volume showed an upward trend, with both the flow of people and business continuing to recover. Groups from Harbin, Guangzhou, Yiwu, Chongqing, Jilin, Shishi, Jianning, and other regions participated in the exhibition. More than 30 forums, salons, and promotional events were held concurrently. These included government-led events such as the opening ceremony of the 2022 China (Xiamen) International Cross-border E-commerce Exhibition and the Cross-border E-commerce Industry Development Summit Forum, as well as the "Third Season of Japanese Enterprises' Fujian Trip" series of activities. They also included various specialized matchmaking meetings, promotional meetings, dialogues, and forums organized by enterprises. The events were high-level, diverse in form, and rich in content, attracting numerous guests and industry leaders to discuss key issues, creating a more influential, authoritative, and professional cross-border e-commerce event.
The "Charming Japan Pavilion," a special feature of the exhibition, covered approximately 1,300 square meters and showcased industries including fast-moving consumer goods, biopharmaceuticals, healthcare and elderly care, cold chain logistics, hydrogen energy, and semiconductors. Companies such as Panasonic, Toyota Tsusho, JFE Environmental Technology, Yakult, Nissin Oils & Fats, Shindenchan Shinpo, Wako Trading, Jibi Technology, and Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, made a prominent appearance. During the exhibition, the "Eternal Neighbors—A Photography Exhibition Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Normalization of Diplomatic Relations between China and Japan" was also held, themed "Peace, Friendship, and Cooperation," displaying over 40 precious works by photographers and photography enthusiasts from both China and Japan.
"Compared to previous years' cross-border trade fairs, this year's major buyers are more concerned about supply capacity." It is understood that over the three-day fair, the 16 participating companies collectively acquired over 900 WeChat users, more than 500 potential clients, and intended purchases exceeding 5 million RMB. The Chinagoods platform collected over 800 inquiries from buyers on-site through app registration, community group acquisition, and WeChat official account follower acquisition. As a representative of returning exhibitors, Xiamen Huanlv Industrial Co., Ltd. made a stunning appearance at this year's China Cross-Border Trade Fair with a brand-new exhibition image, leaving a deep impression with its 108-square-meter exquisitely decorated booth. Wang Hongbin, General Manager of Xiamen Huanlv Industrial Co., Ltd., stated that the overall number and quality of buyers at this year's China Cross-Border Trade Fair have significantly improved. Over the three days, they acquired over 300 WeChat users, more than 200 potential clients, and intended purchases of 3 million RMB, far exceeding expectations. Many exhibitors said that due to the impact of the pandemic, many overseas buyers came to negotiate purchases. The China Cross-border Exhibition provided a new option for enterprises. Through the exhibition, they came into contact with more new purchasing groups, which is an important supplement to traditional foreign trade customers.
It is worth mentioning that this year's China-BRICS E-commerce Expo featured a special BRICS Pavilion, showcasing trade between BRICS countries and Xiamen, BRICS demonstration units (projects), representative industrial parks and platforms, and past important events. A wide array of high-quality goods from Russia, Brazil, India, South Africa, and other countries attracted numerous companies to negotiate and purchase. During the expo, the organizing committee held a series of forums, salons, and training sessions on various themes and formats, including "Research on the Development Trends and Business Models of Cross-border E-commerce between China and BRICS Countries," "Opportunities and Challenges of Cross-border E-commerce in Russia and Brazil," and "The Layout of Independent Cross-border E-commerce Websites in BRICS Countries," highlighting the unique characteristics of BRICS throughout the expo.
